Development of a tax payment service in Ecuador

Abstract

The article relates the experience of the development of Ecuador's own vehicle registration payment service as a case study. The service, operated since 2001 by the Internal Revenue Service, is an example of an effective service designed from the public sector that has contributed to society by reducing transaction costs and generating other benefits that contribute significantly to a change in the financial and tax habits of its users.
