Main Article Content
Abstract
This study of composer Belisario Peña Ponce aims to analyze the historical implications of his creative work between 1937 and 1943, a period during which he received a scholarship to study in Berlin, “the city of music,” under the Nazi regime. The hidden powers of segregation and cultural repression revealed by these events are explored in this work, as is a reinterpretation of the role of the Ecuadorian academic composer within the context of the consolidation of capitalism and neoliberalism after World War II.
