Abstract
This study delves into the guitar works of Ecuadorian composer Gerardo Guevara, with a particular focus on his ‘Suite mínima’ and ‘Recitativo y danza.’ Through a detailed analysis of Guevara’s technique, harmony, and musical language, this research reveals the originality and complexity of his compositions. By employing innovative techniques such as quarter-tone harmonies, microtonal scales, and extended techniques, combined with reinterpreted traditional Ecuadorian rhythms and melodies, Guevara positions himself as a leading figure in contemporary guitar music. This study contributes to the dissemination and appreciation of Guevara’s work.
