Abstract

The social stigmas against women in their fields and actions have not prevented many of them from participating in activities related to symphonic music and from making their work visible in the artistic-musical and academic context in Ecuador.
Through a documentary analysis of symphonic activity in Ecuador, an investigation is made of orchestra conductors from the historical development of the National Conservatory of Music and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ecuador (OSNE) in the last century. Following these facts, this study aims to know the historical participation of women conductors in the concerts of the OSNE, as well as the repertoires and contexts in which these concerts are performed in the twentieth century.
