Abstract

The following work addresses relationship between education and social change, from critical pedagogy, analyzing the forms of reproduction of hegemony in society and how it can be counteracted from education, seeking counter-hegemonic pedagogical strategies that facilitate both students and teachers the way of achieving social change from educational practice. Authors such as Henry Giroux, Michael Apple, Antonio Gramsci, Jacques Rancière and Paulo Freire are analyzed, whom with their contributions provide a guide to understand how education influences culture, and the reproduction of liberating or alienating practices, as well as critical pedagogy. It allows teachers to be guided so that in their pedagogical work they fulfill the role of transformative intellectuals, thus becoming students aware of social reality, it is therefore understood that educational actors are political subjects who can transform society by breaking the culture of silence.
